Cosmos earns its name from the way light scatters through its acrylic panels, breaking a single bulb's glow into a layered, faceted pattern rather than one flat wash. Where our silk pendants diffuse light softly and evenly, Cosmos does something more textured: the acrylic catches and refracts, throwing subtle shadow lines across the ceiling and surrounding walls as the bulb inside sits nested within a metal framework. It's a pendant with more visual complexity than most of our lighting, better suited to a room that wants a genuine focal point overhead rather than ambient fill. Available in three diameters from 400 to 500 millimeters, it scales from a striking accent piece over a side table up to a full dining or entry statement fixture. Because the acrylic panels catch light from multiple angles, Cosmos tends to look different depending on where you stand in the room, which gives it a kind of dimensional presence that a plain shade doesn't have. It's the pendant we'd point to first for anyone who wants their overhead lighting to double as a piece of sculpture. Even the smallest 400-millimeter version holds enough visual density to anchor a compact entry or a reading corner on its own, so there's no need to reserve Cosmos exclusively for large, high-ceilinged rooms.
The frame is built from metal, giving the piece the structural rigidity to hold its faceted acrylic panels in a precise, repeating pattern without warping or sagging over time. Acrylic itself was chosen for its clarity and its ability to bend light in a way glass can approximate but rarely matches at this price point, since acrylic can be molded into more intricate geometric shapes than blown or cut glass typically allows. The three available sizes, 400, 450, and 500 millimeters, all share the same faceted geometry, just scaled proportionally, and all run on a standard LED E27 bulb rated up to 30 watts, noticeably brighter than our silk pendants since Cosmos is designed to double as a genuine light source rather than pure ambiance. Installation follows our usual dual path: a hardwired version with an adjustable 59-inch cord and 3.9-inch ceiling cup, or a plug-in version with a 5-meter cord, inline on-off switch, and three fixed wire clips for routing the cable neatly along the ceiling. Metal detailing at the top and base of the fixture ties the acrylic panels together structurally while also giving the eye a clear resting point among the busier faceted geometry, a small but deliberate design choice that keeps the overall piece from feeling visually chaotic.
We keep Cosmos in the Monvera Space lineup specifically for rooms that can handle a bolder overhead statement, an entryway with double-height ceilings, a dining room without much else competing for attention, or a stairwell where the faceted light pattern can play across multiple walls as you move past it. It reads as more contemporary than our silk and resin pieces, so it tends to work best paired with cleaner-lined furniture rather than heavily textured or rustic pieces, though a warm wood dining table underneath still grounds it nicely. Because the acrylic panels are the whole visual draw here, give the fixture enough clearance from walls and ceiling beams so its faceted pattern has room to actually project. At 30 watts it also runs brighter than most of our other pendants, so consider a dimmer switch if you want the flexibility to soften it for evening use without losing the sculptural quality that makes Cosmos worth hanging in the first place. If your space runs on the smaller side, the 400-millimeter option still delivers the same faceted character as the larger sizes, just at a scale that won't overwhelm a modest entry or breakfast nook. A dimmer also lets Cosmos serve double duty, bright and functional during a dinner party, then dialed back to a softer, more atmospheric setting once the meal winds down and conversation takes over the evening.
