Izumi belongs to our Artist Series, a small run of wabi-sabi resin pieces designed with more sculptural intent than our standard production shades, and its softly domed, gently wobbling silhouette is exactly where that extra attention shows. The shape reads almost like its namesake dessert, a rounded form with a slight give to its outline, less a geometric shade than a deliberately organic one that avoids straight lines or perfect symmetry anywhere on its surface. Hung as a single pendant, Izumi becomes a quiet sculptural object first and a light fixture second during the day, then flips that priority once evening comes and the single E27 bulb inside starts to glow through the resin's faintly irregular surface. It suits a dining nook, a reading corner, or any spot where you want a pendant that feels handmade rather than mass-produced, and where the fixture itself is meant to be looked at and appreciated as much as the light it throws. Because the surface avoids any hard geometric lines, it also tends to soften a room full of straighter furniture edges, giving the eye somewhere organic to rest amid an otherwise angular layout of tables and shelving. Set beside a window during the day, its irregular form catches natural light in a way that hints at how it will glow once evening comes and the bulb inside takes over.
Like the rest of our wabi-sabi resin collection, Izumi is molded from high-density polyethylene, valued here for its durability and moisture resistance as much as for how well the material takes on a soft, matte, hand-finished look. A single E27 socket accepts a standard LED bulb up to 40 watts on AC power between 110 and 240 volts. Installation follows the same dual path as our other resin pendants: a hardwired version with a 6-foot or 16-foot adjustable cord, the longer one including three metal wire clips for tidy routing, or a plug-in version with a 16-foot cord, inline on-off switch, wire clips, and a right-angle bracket or hook, letting you hang the piece without opening up the ceiling at all. Because Izumi is part of the Artist Series, its irregular, undulating form varies subtly from unit to unit, the same way a hand-thrown ceramic piece would, so expect small individual character in the exact curve and wobble of your particular fixture. That same individuality is worth keeping in mind if you're ordering more than one, since a matched pair or trio won't look perfectly identical the way a mass-produced fixture would, and that variation is very much the point of the Artist Series.
We carry Izumi at Monvera Space for customers building out a wabi-sabi interior who want at least one piece that reads unmistakably as art rather than pure function. It's the kind of fixture that works best given a bit of visual space around it, a plain wall behind it, minimal competing decor nearby, so its organic, pudding-like silhouette can actually register against the room rather than get lost among other objects. Hang it low over a small side table or reading chair where its shape is visible at eye level, rather than mounting it so high that its sculptural detail disappears into the ceiling. Because each piece carries subtle individual variation, treat it a bit like a piece of studio pottery: handle it carefully during installation, and expect it to develop its own quiet character over years of use, its resin surface catching light just slightly differently than any other Izumi in the series. Because the Artist Series is produced in smaller runs than our standard lighting, availability can shift more than usual, so if a particular silhouette catches your eye, it's worth acting on rather than assuming the exact same piece will always be back in stock later. Think of ordering one as closer to commissioning a small piece of functional art than simply buying a light fixture, and treat the unboxing itself as the first chance to see its particular character up close.
