Akari Style AO Orb Paper Pendant

This is the paper counterpart to our silk AO Orb, and switching from fabric to rice paper changes the character of the light more than you'd expect from a material swap alone. Rice paper diffuses more evenly and slightly cooler than silk, giving off a softer, more uniformly bright glow across the whole sphere rather than the subtle fabric texture the silk version carries. The result is closer to the traditional Akari lantern lineage this piece is styled after, a pure, glowing orb that reads as almost weightless once lit, especially in the larger sizes where the paper stretches taut across a wide metal frame. Available in five diameters from 30 up to 80 centimeters, it scales from a bedside accent piece to a genuine architectural centerpiece capable of anchoring an entire open-plan living space. Because the paper diffuses light so evenly, this pendant tends to work well as a room's sole overhead fixture in spaces that want soft, shadowless ambient light rather than the more directional glow of a shaded lamp. The higher wattage ceiling paired with the paper's even diffusion means the largest 31.5-inch size can genuinely light a mid-size room on its own, not just supplement other fixtures. Both installation options keep the same 3.9-inch ceiling cup used across our other pendant lines, so retrofitting a paper orb into a spot previously occupied by a different Monvera Space pendant is generally a straightforward swap.

Because rice paper is more delicate to the touch than silk, handle the shade carefully during installation and keep it away from direct contact, though once hung and left alone it holds up reliably for years of everyday use.
