The AO Orb takes its cue from the paper lantern lighting tradition and translates the same round, glowing silhouette into silk stretched over a metal frame. Lit at night, it sits in a room the way a full moon sits in a dark sky, a soft sphere of warm light that reads as a shape first and a fixture second. That roundness is the whole point: unlike a shaded pendant that directs light downward, the orb glows evenly across its entire surface, filling a room with ambient light rather than casting a hard-edged pool on the floor below. It's available across five sizes, from a 30-centimeter orb suited to a bedside or reading corner up to an 80-centimeter version large enough to serve as the singular light source over a dining table or in an open living area. The scale range means the same design can appear throughout a home, a small orb in a hallway, a mid-size pair flanking a sofa, and a large one anchoring the main living space, without ever feeling like mismatched fixtures. That gradual scaling also means the orb reads consistently as the same design language wherever it appears in a home, so a small bedside version and a large dining centerpiece never feel like they came from two different product lines.
Each orb is built from a metal frame wrapped tightly in silk, the same construction used across our Propeller pendants, which keeps the round shape stable while letting light pass through the fabric evenly rather than in patches. Sizes run from a 30-centimeter diameter at 10.2 inches tall up through 40, 50, 60, and finally 80 centimeters at 30 inches tall, with proportional height increases at each step so the sphere-like silhouette stays consistent regardless of scale. All sizes take a standard LED E27 bulb up to 15 watts and run on 110V to 240V power. Installation options match the AP Propeller: a hardwired version with either a 6-foot or 16-foot adjustable cord, the longer one bundled with three wire clips for routing along the ceiling, or a plug-in version with a 16-foot cord, inline on-off switch, wire clips, and a right-angle bracket or hook. That plug-in path means you can hang even the largest 80-centimeter orb without an electrician, provided you have a nearby outlet and a sturdy point to anchor the hook. The consistency between installation types also means you can mix hardwired and plug-in orbs within the same room if wiring access varies from spot to spot, without any visible difference in how the finished fixture hangs or performs.
At Monvera Space, the AO Orb is one of the pieces we point people toward when they want a single fixture to define a room's whole character. Its round form has enough presence to work alone as a design statement, but its soft, even glow keeps it from ever feeling stark or clinical the way some large pendants can. Hang the largest size low over a dining table for a warm, moon-like centerpiece, or use the smallest size in multiples along a hallway ceiling for a rhythmic, glowing sequence. Because the silk diffuses light so evenly, this pendant tends to photograph and read especially well against darker wall colors or exposed wood beams, where the orb's pale glow stands out as the room's clear focal point. If ceiling height is limited, size down rather than choosing the tallest option, since the orb needs enough headroom below it to avoid feeling like it's crowding the space it's meant to light. For anyone unsure which size fits their ceiling, a simple rule holds up well here too: measure the width of the surface below and aim for the orb's diameter to land somewhere between a quarter and a third of that width for the most balanced proportion.
